Fashionably Slate: Popular Culture vs. Fashion

Fashion is inevitably inspired by popular culture. Wherever popular culture exists is where we will exist. It is truly a magical thought that everything is survived by each other. Rather than popular culture being seen as corrupt or unimportant, I enjoy looking at it as the way each person individually becomes a part of something larger: connection.

A lot of students with mental and physical health issues benefit from having an ESA that lives with them. A lot of misconceptions exist about ESAs, however. Aren’t they just pets? How can they actually help students?

Fashionably Slate: Will it function?

Clothing functionality has been an issue for hundreds of years. For example, in the 17th century, women’s clothing functionality was anything but convenient – bodices, pleated sleeves and crinolines created a world of disruption.

Men of Color Conversations a success

The Division of Retention and Student Success held one of its Men of Color Conversations Wednesday night. The discussion lasted for approximately an hour and was held in Orndorff Theater.

My chaotic conference weekend

On top of my many commitments to student media, I also serve as the president of the Residence Hall Association. Our organization is dedicated to advocating and promoting community amongst the seven residence halls that make up campus. Most universities across the country have a variation of RHA, and every year these organizations gather for several conferences.

A tribute to the trees

If anyone knows me, they know that I have a deep emotional connection to trees, more specifically, the turning of the leaves on campus each fall. As I fell more charmed with our campus’ foliage during my first semester at Ship last year, I decided there could be much worse things for a college student to derive joy from.

Shippensburg University Alumni Spotlights 2023

Shippensburg University alumni reunited with each other behind Seth Grove Stadium for the annual homecoming tailgate before the football game on Nov. 4. The SU alumni joined with current SU students at their cars and organization tents to celebrate this year’s homecoming.

Homecoming 2023: MSA hosts annual Step Show

Shippensburg University’s Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) hosted its annual Step Show Saturday night. The event began at 7:30 p.m. and was hosted by JP Sakpeidah and Tamara Hightower.
