Shippensburg University students relived summer break for a night during the Activities Program Board’s (APB) “Carnival Night” in the Ceddia Union Building (CUB) Amphitheater on Friday.

Carnival Night offered something for everybody to enjoy. Students played familiar games, such as ring toss and fish-in-a-bowl, in order to win prizes. The prizes included a variety of toys, accessories and inflatables. Each student who checked into the event was also eligible to enter a prize giveaway.

The carnival offered more than just games, though. Students also drew chalk art on the stairs of the amphitheater and danced along to pop music. Kappa Alpha Psi even hosted a dunk tank at the carnival for its “Dunk a Nupe” fundraiser. Traditional carnival food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, soft pretzels and popcorn were freely available throughout the night, as well.

As fall swiftly approaches, many college students are reminiscing on their summer breaks, especially freshmen. SU Freshman Julia Bradshaw, who attended Carnival Night, said, “This reminds me of the carnival back home. There’s a feeling of nostalgia here.”

As the night came to a close, students continued to dance with their friends, take pictures and win the last of the prizes.
