The Slate Staff 2022-23
The Slate staff is comprised of student-volunteers from all majors who strive to provide up-to-date news and entertainment to the Shippensburg University community. Since its founding in 1957, The Slate has earned numerous awards and recognitions for its staff members' dedication to journalism.
The 2019-20 Slate staff received national recognition by earning first place in the American Scholastic Press Association's 2020 Scholastic Newspaper Awards.
The Pennsylvania Newsmedia Association (PNA) awarded The Slate with seven Keystone Student Media Awards in the 2021 contest. They are:
- First Place, Editorial — Slate Staff
- First Place, Column — Jonathan Bergmueller '20
- First Place, News Photo — Carmine Scicchitano
- First Place, Feature Photo — Carmine Scicchitano
- First place, Website — Slate Staff
- Honorable Mention, Photo Story — Noel Miller
- Honorable Mention, Layout and Design — Hannah Pollock
The PNA also recognized Hannah Pollock and Carmine Scicchitano with photography honorable mentions in the 2020 Student Keystone Media Awards.
The Slate's Business team received three awards from its advertising partner Flytedesk for their hard work during the fall 2020 election advertising season.
These current staff members are continuing the work started 65 years ago and upholding the award-winning legacy of quality reporting and service to the Shippensburg University community.
