Shippensburg University’s Latino Student Organization (LSO) held their annual cookout on Sept. 12 at the McCune Pavilion. LSO members were joined by the student body to celebrate a night of food, dancing, and culture.

The CUB MPR was packed on Saturday for Game Show Night presented by the Activities Programming Board (APB). Snacks and refreshments were provided, along with several door prizes for participants. Students had the opportunity to play classic Game Shows like “Jeopardy!”, “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”, and “Name That Tune.” However, due to time constraints, organizers skipped “Family Feud” and raffled off the remaining prizes instead.

Long before he was a professor, Steve Dolbin was a “dynamic little All-American lad,” according to the newspaper, a boy who spent his childhood running around the halls of Shippensburg State College. Primetime, DCF’s main weekly event, takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesdays and includes worship and small group discussions. While it is rooted in Christian teaching, the group emphasizes that all students are welcome regardless of their religious background.

SU students take home cash prizes after pitching their business ideas to a panel of judges, “Shark Tank” style. The Charles H. Diller Jr. Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation hosted Ship Tank, on April 10. This was an event meant to “provide Shippensburg students with a chance to explore their entrepreneurial interest in an environment where they can learn, grow, and earn some cash,” according to the Diller Center.
“I try to take students from where they are to somewhere else, and to me, that is also like therapy,” said Erica Galioto. Galioto, a Shippensburg University English professor, is a believer of allowing, and guiding, students to reach their fullest potential. To get them to that potential, she is adamant in teaching a variety of topics that range from connectivity and diversity to testimonial experience.
