The Shippensburg University Activities Programming Board (APB) hosted Blooming Bingo on April 12, in the CUB Multipurpose Room (MPR).

The MPR was decorated with string lights and flower vines, mini flowerpots, petals, pink lights and flowers on the screens around the room. There were also different colored pipe cleaners and instructions on the tables to create pipe cleaner flowers.

WSYC deejayed for the event, playing upbeat spring and summer themed music to add to the theme. People at the event were dancing and singing along to songs, cheering for their friends and having a great time on a warm Sunday afternoon.

Prizes were all spring and flower themed to welcome the warm weather and season, with Legos and different themed baskets. The LEGO prizes consisted of different flower-themed sets, and the grand prize was a LEGO botanical garden.

The basket prizes consisted of a gardener’s basket, a coffee basket, a tea basket and a self-care basket.

Most rounds of bingo were normal, but there were also some special rounds. The special rounds were a small flower in the middle of the board; unlucky bingo in which everyone stands up and then sits as their name is called; a full board tulip design; and blackout bingo.

APB’s VP of Marketing Rylie Gordon said, “I am currently a senior, and this is the first event I was able to plan and the last time I will be able to do it, so I wanted to try doing something different and do bingo on a Sunday. We wanted to pay attention to the time of year it was and have a fun spring-themed event in the afternoon.”

The final round of bingo wrapped up with an intense round of rock, paper, scissors for the LEGO botanical garden, and the room cheered for the winner. This was the last bingo event of the academic year, so it was a special one for everyone.
