Shippensburg University students celebrated St. Patrick’s Day early at APB’s “Shamrock Shake and Make” event in the CUB MPR on Saturday night.

The festive event granted students a fun weekend outing to enjoy shamrock and vanilla milkshakes and participate in numerous craft activities. This included custom and engraved bracelet making and tie dye, where attendees could choose from beanies, shirts, socks, tote bags and headbands.

Upon entering the MPR, students were handed plastic glasses and were met with festive tablecloths with tabletop decorations such as gold coins and four-leaf clovers. The room was also lined with twinkling bistro lights and green accents, adding to the fun atmosphere.

Kylee Salassa, an APB member, was in charge of this event and explained the goal of hosting it.

“Who doesn’t like a free milkshake?” Salassa said. “Because March is really colorful and green, I thought tie-dye would be fun and so would engraving bracelets. It’s just a lot to do, people get to have fun, they get to talk and get to drink a good shake.”

Dozens of students formed a line outside the MPR anticipating the start of the event. Before entering, attendees were handed a raffle ticket in which they could enter to win one of three prize baskets. Prizes included gift cards, blankets, stuffed animals and water bottles.

WSYC, Shippensburg University’s campus radio station, was also present, playing a wide selection of music throughout the entirety of the event.

The event served as a relaxing night out for students during the last week before spring break.

APB has many more events planned for the remainder of the spring semester. For more information, check out its Instagram @shipapb.
