Chambersburg revokes housing NDO, impacts surrounding communities

Shippensburg University has created several initiates from administrative efforts to student groups that seek to support the diverse body of students and faculty in the SU community. The annual Diversity Week and the recent implementation of the Hate Has No Home Here campaign are only a few of the ways that SU has shown its support.

Your World Today Commentary: Broadening your skills while following your passion

When I started my college journey, I was one of the few who knew without a doubt what they wanted to do for a living. I had the privilege of feeling secure in my choice and was ready to dedicate the next four years to learn as much as I could about the ins and outs of journalism. This confidence helped me push through the tedious and hard courses, but it also had a downside.

Gilbert Hall lot adds commuter parking

Effective for the spring semester, 13 parking spaces in the FS-1 lot behind Gilbert Hall have been redesignated for student commuter parking, according to the Shippensburg University Police Department. The new commuter parking spaces are located at the west end of the parking lot and are marked with commuter parking signs.

Your World Today Commentary: Knowledge is power in sex education

“The Talk” — it’s the most infamous part of puberty. The dreaded sit down with a parent or teacher for some of us and for others it’s a book about the body placed in our room. Sex education is often awkward for the one teaching it and the one learning. If you for some reason can’t be the one to teach your kids about sex education and their bodies, please make sure someone does. Without the proper education the sexual health and safety of children, teenagers and young adults can be at risk.

Journey to homecoming royalty: Hayley Anderson

The homecoming court was back in full for Homecoming 2021 at Shippensburg University. Each year, 10 students are voted onto the court and spend the next month volunteering and fundraising in hopes to be crowned as homecoming royalty.

SU's vaccination week seeks to raise awareness

It’s Vaccination Week at Shippensburg University. Students are encouraged to submit proof of having received the COVID-19 vaccine, learn about the vaccine and get the vaccine, according to Chris Clarke the director of the SU COVID Office.

State police investigate assaults near campus

  The Shippensburg University Police Department sent out a safety bulletin to students on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1:30 p.m. informing them that there have been two separate off-campus assaults recently.  The bulletin stated the assaults were late at night and “on each occurrence the motive was robbery.” No details or information about the exact locations, victims or alleged attackers were included in the email.
