(09/19/23 4:00pm)

Shippensburg football got out to a 7-0 lead on their first drive on the road against IUP this past Saturday but didn’t score again until the 4th quarter in a 49-14 loss. The Raiders’ defense held quite strong early in the contest, only trailing 14-7 at the half, but a 21-point 3rd quarter from the Crimson Hawks put the game out of reach.

It’s not summer without ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

(09/19/23 4:00pm)

As summer slips away, it’s easy to escape into the crunching leaves and cozy sweaters of autumn without remembering the souvenirs this summer has given us. An important keepsake from summer 2023 is the second season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” a book trilogy now adapted into an Amazon Prime original series that encapsulates the freedom and fear of formative years. The Slate Speaks: Is divorce really that bad?

(09/15/23 9:01pm)

With the fixation on celebrity couples, it’s no surprise this year has been designated as the year of divorce. Some of Hollywood’s biggest couples are cutting ties after years of matrimony. With this news, it is very common for people to immediately think that this will destroy their professional careers. That something terrible must’ve happened, or that one or both parties are at fault in some way. This however, speaks to a larger issue, the stigma around divorce in general.

‘Hotel California’ brings Eagles’ hits to Shippensburg

(09/13/23 4:29pm)

Hotel California: A Salute to the Eagles brought the ’70s band’s distinct country and rock sounds to Shippensburg this past weekend when they performed at the Luhrs Center on Sept. 8. Their set was quite diverse, with slower songs early on and most of the heavy rockers coming after the intermission, before finishing with some non-Eagles covers.
