McCormick takes aim at Bob Casey at CPAC

Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey was labeled a “man of inaction” by Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick Friday as McCormick spoke during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

This is McCormick’s second attempt at securing one of Pennsylvania’s two Senate seats. He previously ran during the 2022 cycle to fill Pat Toomey’s seat after Toomey chose not to run for reelection. McCormick was narrowly defeated by primary challenger Mehmet Oz, who was later defeated by John Fetterman.

McCormick was speaking alongside David Milstein, who served as the special assistant to former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman. The pair spoke during CPAC under the title “Saving Bethlehems,” alluding to two major topics featured — Israel and the opioid epidemic.

“This is a national security crisis,” McCormick said of the drug trade. American adversaries in Beijing, Tehran and Moscow, according to McCormick, are using the opioid epidemic and fentanyl to weaken American communities for geopolitical ends.

“In Pennsylvania, we have a senator that has no leadership, not done a single thing from a legislative standpoint, and not only that, he’s voted with Biden 98% of the time.”

Listing off inflation, immigration and transgender athletes, McCormick placed the blame at Casey’s feet. “Bob Casey’s been there every step of the way, and that’s out of step with Pennsylvanians,” McCormick said. “That’s why I’m going to win.”

“He’s like Punxsutawney Phil,” McCormick said of Casey. “He only pokes his head out of his hole once every six years.”
