Shippensburg University was ranked 11th out of 30 universities chosen with the most affordable master’s in science education online degree programs across the nation by Best Value, according to a Best Value press release.

SU has one of the most hands-on programs in the ranking for Master of Arts in Teaching STEM Education, the press release said. The class meets one Saturday per month, uses online interactions and live video conferences. Each student is paired with a local teacher to mentor them with 25 hours of observation and co-teaching.

"STEM is everywhere — it shapes our lives and everyday experiences," SU President Laurie Carter said in the press release. "Our Master of Arts in Teaching STEM Education allows our graduates to become educational leaders and teachers in middle and high school classrooms. We are so proud to have our online program included in this ranking by Best Value Schools."

The National Center for Education Statistics’ College Navigator database identified public and private colleges that offered online science education graduate programs to create the ranking. To be considered, the programs had to have an average tuition of $25,000 per year or less.
