An easy to make treat for Valentine’s Day baking.

It is the season of love and chocolate, and this red velvet in a mug recipe is the perfect thing to whip up in your dorm room. Whether you are celebrating alone, with a significant other or with friends, this recipe gives you a delicious and seasonally appropriate treat. 

Ingredients: 

2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons milk, divided 

1 teaspoon white vinegar 

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour 

2 tablespoons sugar

1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa power 

½ tablespoon oil 

1-2 drops red food coloring 

Optional: ingredients for cream cheese frosting 

1 ounce cream cheese, softened 

1 ounce butter, softened 

¾ cup icing sugar 

½ tablespoon milk 

¼ tablespoon vanilla extract 

Heart sprinkles 

Instructions: 

1. Mix together 1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons of milk, along with the vinegar, in a microwave safe mug and let rest for 3 minutes. 

2. Mix in the remaining cake ingredients until fully combined. 

3. Microwave for 1 minute. 

4. Allow the mug cake to rest until cool. 

5. If making icing, mix together the ingredients until smooth. 

6. Add sprinkles. 

This cake will be able to satisfy any sweet tooth until the Valentine’s Day chocolate goes on sale. Put on your favorite rom-com while digging into this tiny but mighty red velvet cake.
