With the NFL regular season fast approaching, an increasing amount of fantasy football leagues are beginning to have their drafts.
The Red Raiders will attempt to bounce back this season after going 6-9-2 last season under Head coach Jeremy Spering. Coach Spering returns for his eighth season as Head Coach this season.
Just removed one year removed from its 2013 National Championship, the Raiders look to build off an impressive 15-5 record last season and return to championship status. The Raiders open the season ranked third in the 2015 PSAC Preseason Coaches’ poll, but hope to climb to the top ranking before the season’s end.
It’s that time of year again, where fantasy players are finalizing their draft rankings and reading up on last minute scouting reports.
Shippensburg University junior Megan Lundy and senior Ryan Spangler were named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District team for Division II Athletics, last Thursday. Lundy, who also received academic honors in 2014, is majoring in early childhood education and minoring in coaching.
Another year, another season of revisited plots for the NBA. Ever watch the NBA, particularly the NBA finals, and think, “Hey, haven’t I seen this before?” If so, then you deserve kudos. It’s now been five consecutive years that LeBron James has appeared in the NBA finals.
The NBA finals tip off this Thursday with the Cleveland Cavaliers facing off against the Golden State Warriors.
The Raiders season came to an end after they were eliminated from the postseason after back-to-back losses to the Seton Hill Griffins and California Vulcans (PA) at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler, Pa. The Raiders dropped their first game 11-5 to California and were knocked out of the playoffs with their 9-3 loss to California.
The softball team concluded its season on Saturday with a sweep of the Mansfield Mountaineers in an away matchup on Mansfield’s Hellen Lutes Field. Shippensburg (17-18) shut out Mansfield 9-0 in Game 1 and notched an 11-5 victory in Game 2.
The softball team kept its playoff dream alive on Friday after battling the Kutztown Golden Bears in a pair of games each decided by one run on Senior Day at Ship’s Robb Field. Shippensburg (15-18) edged Kutztown 3-2 in Game 1 before suffering a 7-6 loss in Game 2.
When Chris Fite stepped onto the University of Rochester’s campus he did not know what was ahead of him.
For those who don’t know, this will be the last edition of the slate this semester. So this will also be the last fantasy update.
While Bleacher Talk has normally been a debate column between our sports’ editors, but this week it has a different feel, as Dave and Cale each select the Shippensburg University ’14-’15 athletes of the year. This was a difficult decision because there were a number of team and individual performances that stood out in Red Raider athletics. Dave is tasked with selecting the best athlete among the male Red Raiders, while Cale will choose the best female athlete.
As the Shippensburg University is preparing for the PSAC tournament, the team capped its regular season by hosting West Chester on Saturday for their regular season finale, splitting a doubleheader. In Game 1, SU started off strong when sophomore Jake Kennedy doubled to center field, scoring senior Jimmy Spanos.
The Shippensburg University Red Raiders hosted West Chester University for a Senior Day doubleheader on Friday, dropping the opener 5-4, but taking the nightcap, 7-3. Sophomore Jake Kennedy tied and broke the SU home run record in a single season in consecutive at-bats during Game One, passing Todd Melisauskas, who was drafted by the Dodgers and inducted into the SU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. Despite Kennedy’s performance, it wasn’t enough offense, as West Chester scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning. In Game 2, SU was able to beat WCU pitcher Nick Stallings for his first loss of the season, chasing him after he was unable to get an out in the third inning.
The Shippensburg University Red Raiders hosted the Shepherd Rams for a doubleheader on Tuesday, splitting a pair of non-conference games. In Game 1, the Rams shut out the Red Raiders behind a strong performance from Rams pitcher Sam Crater threw five scoreless innings to earn his ninth win of the season.
The Shippensburg University baseball team clinched a playoff spot on April 18, but did not know who they would face in round one of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament. On April 25 the Raiders (25-23, 17-11 PSAC) learned that they will face Seton Hill University, the No.
“I love the way that running makes me feel. I love the accomplishments and life skills I gain from being on the team.
