In the Friday night game opener against Penn State University Lehigh Valley, Shippensburg University sealed a solid 89-52 win in the 2015 Wolf’s Bus Lines Classic at Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg proved to be a dynamic team with a deep bench by having three players in double figures and 13 players score overall.

Every SU player played at least eight minutes and no one player played more than 21 minutes.

SU outscored PSU Lehigh Valley by an overwhelming 49-24 in the second half and outrebounded the Lions 57-41 as every player on SU’s roster contributed pulling from the boards.

At the half, the Raiders led with a 12-point lead that was quickly capitalized on and made into a 21-point advantage. SU’s defense was just as dominant as its offense, restraining the Lions to just a 23.4 shooting percentage for the night.

SU was lead by junior point guard Abe Massaley’s 17 points. Massaley was consistent, having made eight of his 13 field goal attempts.

Wasting no time, Massaley executed his first four field goal attempts within the first four minutes of the game. Sophomore Clay Conner and freshman Antonio Kellem were also big contributors, scoring 10 points each for the Raiders.

The Shippensburg men’s basketball team continued its win streak with an 85-62 victory over New York Christian College on Saturday night in the final of the Wolf’s Bus Line Classic.

SU started the half with a low 6-point lead, but swiftly took off, earning a 10-2 run right away. The Raiders sealed a 9-point lead for the rest of the game, giving Nyack no chance to recover.

Shippensburg’s offense was impeccable, shooting 49.2 percent from the field. The Raiders were threatening from the outside as well, nailing 7-of-19 three point tries.

Kellem made a dramatic impact early on for the Raiders, knocking down all of his first six shots and scoring 15 of his 18 points in the first half. The rookie also added two three-point shoots and eight rebounds.

Massaley had another great performance for the Raiders, earning him Tournament MVP. Massaley had 15 points, four steals, and a game high of 7 assists.

The Raiders continued to uphold a strong rebound game, outrebounding the East Stroudsburg University Warriors 52-32.

Leading rebounders include sophomore Dustin Sleva with 11 and red-shirt freshman Manny Span with nine.

Sleva was also effective for the Raiders offensively, totaling 6 from the field and 3 from downtown. Dustin’s double-double was enough to name him to the all-tournament team.

Shippensburg will attempt to remain undefeated when they travel to East Stroudsburg University Wednesday, Nov. 17 for a 7 p.m. match.
