The Shippensburg University women's basketball team came back from a slow start on Friday night, clenching a 63-53 win over Saint Michael’s University as part of the 2015 Wolf's Bus Lines Classic at Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg trailed 31-28 at the half as a result from the team’s 12 turnovers. However, the Raiders did not let the score faze them and came into the second half focused and ready to take the lead. SU outscored the Knights with a dominating 21-8, taking on a 10 point lead that they would carry until the end of the match. The Raiders took care of the ball, limiting themselves to only seven turnovers in the second half.

Shippensburg displayed a prevailing rebounding presence against St. Michael’s, grabbing 19 offensive rebounds as a team and earning 16 second-chance points. Overall, SU outrebounded St. Michael’s 48-34.

Junior Morgan Griffith made her presence known in the paint, earning a double-double with 14 points and 18 rebounds. Four of SU’s players received double digits, led by senior Stephanie Knauer’s 16 points.

Junior Colleen Young impressed by hitting two three-pointers in contribution to her total of 11 points and eight rebounds for the night. Junior Logan Snyder added 10 points and a team-high six assists.

The Shippensburg women’s basketball team approached Saturday night’s game against Davis & Elkins College with a quick start and a dominant defense. The final score in the finale of the 2015 Wolf’s Bus Line Classic was a staggering 85-48.

The Raiders wasted no time at the start, claiming the first 10 points of the game and forcing the Senators to call an early time-out. Davis & Elkins managed to come back slightly, making the score 11-6, but it was a short-lived triumph. Shippensburg finished the first quarter with a 10-2 run and a 21-8 lead. At the half, the Raiders spread the gap even further, succeeding the Senators 40-14. Directly into the second half the Raiders showed no let up, scoring 19 points in the first six minutes. With still 8:43 to play, SU captivated a 45-point lead, 72-29.

SU forced a detrimental 20 turnovers for the Senators and kept them at an overall 24.3 shot percentage.

Five Raiders scored double digits, led by junior guard Logan Snyder’s 18 points and efficient 7-of-8 shooting. Senior Stephanie Knauer earned tournament MVP honors after her double-double performance of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
