Meet next semester’s Editor – in – Chief

Cara Shumaker, current managing editor of The Slate, will be next year’s editor-in-chief, replacing current editor-in-chief Chelsea Wehking, who is graduating this May. Shumaker, a junior, has been involved with The Slate since the first semester of her freshman year at Shippensburg University.

Distracting websites, that is. Whether you’re pulling an all-nighter to finish that 10-page paper or cramming for finals, distracting websites such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter can be your worst enemy. We have distractions prying into our free time today more than ever, including but not limited to websites, text messages, TV shows and video games.

Kupkakes for Kris is a non-profit organization in honor of cancer fighter Kris Green. Kris was a member of the Central Pennsylvania public relations community and served as a crucial member.

Student Spotlight: Psychology student at SU travels abroad

Rachel Flicker, a 21-year-old junior, is a psychology student at Shippensburg University. Flicker has been heavily involved with the campus, the community and even outside her community in the past three years she has spent at SU. Flicker is involved in several organizations on campus.

Shippensburg goes one day without shoes

Shippensburg University students went barefoot for a day to raise awareness of children’s health and education. On Tuesday, April 16, Shippensburg University went “One Day Without Shoes.’ This is the fourth year SU has participated in the “One Day Without Shoes” event.

SU clubs to host a dumpster dive

Several student members of the Shippensburg chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) are working with the Environmental Club and the Environmental Steering Committee to host a dumpster dive on campus this week.

WSYC hosts Up All Night event for students

WSYC’s, 88.7 FM second annual “Up All Night” showcased the station’s deejays, and allowed local performers live airtime, but mostly it was held for the students — and it almost did not happen. WSYC’s PR Director Alex Anstett, a junior, along with students in the Communication/Journalism Department’s practicum course had been planning the event since January.
