Fascism and the Next Trump Term

Kamala Harris losing this election will have unparalleled consequences for our democracy and the future of our nation.

Donald Trump is undoubtably a fascist, and it is apparent when analyzed. The common characteristics of fascism, according to the Political Scientist, Dr. Lawrence Britt, features elements that Trump has demonstrated, such as the promotion of nationalism, disdain for human rights, unification through a common enemy, supremacy of the military, rampant sexism, controlling of the media, obsession with national security, religion, government-intertwined, corporate power protections, labor power suppression, disdain for intellectuals and the arts, obsession with crime and punishment and rampant corruption alongside fraudulent elections.

The next Trump presidency will be unlike the first, since his cabinet will consist of “yes men,” as opposed to establishment Republicans, who will do his bidding. The slogan “Make American Great Again” and his rallies are merely nationalism disguised as patriotism.

For example, at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally, former White House Staffer Stephen Miller announced, “America is for Americans and Americans only.” This divisive rhetoric not only is nationalistic, but it also promotes a common enemy of immigrants and non-citizens.

Trump has stated that in his second term he will enact mass deportations of immigrants, a process that cannot be done without completely violating due process and human rights. Trump has upped the ante on anti-immigrant rhetoric during his campaign stating that “immigrants are poisoning the blood of our nation,” a phrase which resembles the rhetoric spoken in Germany during the Second War and the eugenics movement of the 19th century.

He wants to achieve these deportations through the “Alien Enemies Act of 1798,” which has not been invoked since World War II, after the disgraceful Proclamation 2525, implemented by Franklin Roosevelt, in which Japanese Americans were rounded up and taken to internment camps after the attack on Pearl Harbor in the name of national security.

Donald Trump has also called for the persecution of leftists, communists and other political rivals, through military power. Since 2022, he has made over 100 threats to imprison or go after political rivals, which he has called the “enemies from within.”

One of these rivals is former House Representative Liz Cheney, R-WY, who Trump said on his social media channel Truth Social, “should go to jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee,” referring to those on the January 6th Congressional committee. Other targets are Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Mark Zuckerburg, Barack Obama and various others, including the media.

A Trump presidency will lead to a rollback on women’s rights, as threats to reproductive freedom will be underway to pander to his Christian base. The overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, accomplished by Trump’s three appointed Supreme Court justices, led to 17 states banning or severely restricting abortion, which he called, “A beautiful thing to watch.”

Trump will be guided through his next presidency by the Heritage Foundation and their Project 2025, which advocates for the restriction of birth control, defunding the Department of Education, mass deportations, the end of birthright citizenship, attacking the First Amendment and protestors, limiting voting access, attacking labor unions and protecting corporate interests.

The next Trump presidency will be one of Christian-Nationalism, authoritarianism and an overall rollback on personal liberties. This is something that Americans who support democracy should reject and fear and it is the anti-thesis of core American values.
