On Tuesday, Sept. 19, the Shippensburg University Career Center held their Intern Showcase in CUB MPR A. This was an opportunity for SU undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and academic backgrounds to share their internship experiences. Students were able to submit a PowerPoint slide detailing their internship and what they had accomplished.

A total of 23 students displayed their experiences at their internships and answered questions from attendees regarding their internships during the hour-long event, spanning from companies of all kinds,: from Hersheypark to the Luhrs Performing Arts Center to the Cumberland County Historical Society. SU students attended the event with questions for the interns, and representatives from the different organizations.  After an excellent opportunity to network and bond with their peers over their experiences, interns were given free SU portfolios courtesy of the SU Career Center as they exited the event.

SU junior and intern Luke Rainey was pleased with the outcome of the event. “I thought the event was well-organized, and the Career Center did an excellent job with the presentation and the layout,” Rainey said. “It was also a nice way for students to be exposed to a variety of internship opportunities across all disciplines.”

Rainey was also thrilled to be able to share his experiences during his internship. “I completed an internship at my state senator’s office for eight weeks and learned so much about the workings of local government while I was there, and to get the chance to share those experiences with all attendees was humbling.”
