Counseling center only open for emergencies

Campus is in an uproar as the faculty have begun their strike after many failed negotiation attempts. Behind the picket line, students are walking around looking confused and lost as to what is going to happen next.

Services such as dining halls, the CUB, Etter Health Center, Lehman Library, Residence halls, ShipRec, University Police and other administrative offices will remain open. However, concerns arise when it comes to facilities such as the student-counseling center being affected throughout the duration of the strike. Though the doors will still be open, most of the faculty will be joining the rest of their colleagues at the picket line.

The women’s center will remain open and in service throughout the duration of the strike for anyone who becomes a victim of violence, but they are not able to help students with general counseling. Students who are in need of counseling are encouraged to go to the counseling center and ask the administrative staff for a list of other resources that will be open off-campus.

The University Police are also a resource for any mental health emergencies that may arise. Students are encouraged to call the Police if there are any serious emergencies.

The following information is a list of counseling resources in Shippensburg, Chambersburg, Mechanicsburg and Carlisle that will be open if students need:
