The Oscars: A student's predictions

For 85 years, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has given awards to the best in film and will do so again this year with “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane hosting the show. Strong female characters dominated the Best Actress category as the women landed in varying roles such as a Central Intelligence Agency officer hunting Osama Bin Laden, two characters weathering a storm, an unemployed young woman befriending a mentally ill man and an elderly paralyzed woman.

55th annual Grammys awards

Big moments of the night… Al Walser in a full space outfit. The singer, DJ, and producer Al Walser , nominated for “Best Dance Recording” showed up to the Grammys in a full astronaut outfit, holding a sign that said his name.

Luhrs presents Popovich Comedy Pet Theater

Feb. 6, marked the 10-year anniversary of the release of 50 Cent’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” one of hip-hop’s most significant albums. 50 Cent put the rap game in a stranglehold in 2003 after his “In Da Club” single helped sell more than 6 million copies of the album by the end of the year, and by selling 872,000 copies in its first week.

In Motion kicks off spring 2013 semester

On the weekend of Feb. 7 dozens of students, parents and community members arrived at Memorial Auditorium on Shippensburg’s campus to watch In Motion Dance Troupe perform its spring semester recital at 8 p.m.

Comedic duo leaves students laughing

 

The dynamic acting, singing and comedic duo Dave Ahdoot and Ethan Fixell brought smiles and outbursts of laughter as APB hosted their comedy show in the CUB’s Red Zone. The comedic duo, known as Dave and Ethan, have been best friends since middle school and have gained experience from the People’s Improv Theater in New York.

Kauffman features art from IUP students

 

The Kauffman Gallery located in the Huber Art Center kicked off the spring semester with a new exhibit, “A Person, Place or Thing.” The exhibition features 59 works of art from graduate students pursuing their Master of Fine Art (MFA) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Many of the works of art are abstract and set the tone for a brilliant display.

Clay Aiken brings holiday spirit to Shippensburg

The Luhrs Performing Arts Center was transformed into a Winter Wonderland on Saturday, Dec. 8, as Clay Aiken brought singing, laughing, impromptu duets, and the favorite Christmas classics to Shippensburg during his Joyful Noise tour. Clay Aiken’s performance at the Luhrs Center Saturday was a show to remember right from the opening number.

End of semester show rocks The Thought Lot
