Dearest gentle reader,
Two of my favorite love tropes is brother’s best friend and enemies to lovers. This is probably because I had crushes on many of my brother’s friends growing up. Combining both of those beloved tropes of mine in one novel is a recipe for an amazing story — or so you would think.

If you liked “The Housemaid,” you’re going to love “Verity” by Colleen Hoover. Despite Hoover being a controversial author, she completely delivers with this novel. I often read Hoover’s books whenever I am in a book slump and cannot find the motivation to read anything.
A true testament to womanhood, friendships and enduring courage, “Always…Patsy Cline” warmed the audiences’ hearts this Sunday at the Luhrs Performing Arts Center.

“Puppy Pals LIVE,” a humorous stunt dog show, came to the Luhrs Performing Arts Center on Saturday for a double feature show, one at 1 p.m. and a later one at 5 p.m. The dogs were able to make high jumps, rollover on command, jump through hoops and many more.
Imagine you were handed the keys to your favorite fictional franchise. You would feel a duty to the fans and the legacy of the show. You would pick up the stories and characters that were left behind long before you could even walk upright. You would honor what made the show great, right?
My brother had told me to watch the show “Daisy Jones & The Six” on Prime Video. He caught me on a night that I had nothing to do and a time when I had no new shows to watch other than my comfort shows I re-watch a million times.
If you are looking for a slow burn thriller that will have you yelling at the TV by the end of the season, Peacock’s new exclusive “PONIES” is the show for you.
Netflix released “One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5,” a documentary on the show’s behind-the-scenes of making the final season and closing a chapter on Jan. 12. I normally do not watch behind-the-scenes of any show or movie, but since this one was for my favorite show, I felt like I had to.
Over the winter break, I re-watched the 2012 adaptation of “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” by Stephen Chbosky. This film never fails to make me cry, and I think that is what makes it such an amazing movie. I was curious to see if the novel also held the tear-jerking factor, so I bought the book and read it in three days — so yes, it had the same ability.
“It Was Just an Accident” is Iranian Director Jafar Panahi putting his lived experiences on the big screen for the world to understand. The movie follows Vahid, who was once imprisoned for crimes against the regime, whether real or perceived. He recognizes the sound of his torturer's prosthetic leg and then decides to abduct and kill him. When Vahid experiences a sliver of doubt regarding his captive’s identity, he enlists former political prisoners to assist him.
On Nov. 2, the Shippensburg University Brass Ensemble held its annual Fall concert in Old Main Chapel. The fast-paced program made for a perfect Sunday afternoon performance and showcased a variety of genres and difficulty levels, from the dreamy melodies of David Marlatt’s “Earthscape” to Joseph Zawinul’s rhythmically energetic “Birdland.”
