Shippensburg University’s men’s indoor track-and-field team won its 15th straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship on Sunday, claiming the crown with 181.5 points, while the women’s team placed fifth with 71.5 points.
The men’s team won seven events, with junior Tommy Crum Jr. winning a trio of events for the second straight year. He placed first with times of 4:11.46 in the mile and 8:29.32 in the 3K, while joining senior Chase Hensinger, freshman Mohamed Himmad and sophomore Owen Shrader to win the distance medley relay at 10:05.78.
Crum was named the 2026 PSAC Indoor Championships MVP and the Most Valuable Track Athlete for his efforts.
Hensinger snagged first place in the 800 meters, with a new best time of 1:53.73 that places him third in school history. The other team members to win titles on the track were freshman Ke’Aune Green, with a time of 21.87 in the 200 meters, and senior Garrett Quinan, claiming his third straight 5K title at 15:10.76.
Senior Quinton Townsend placed second in the 400 meters while moving up the SU leaderboard in the 200 meters, as his prelim time of 21.75 seconds, moving him into third in school history. Green’s time of 6.83 in the 60 meters put him 10th in SU history, placing third behind junior Gabriel Lewis in second.
Freshman Jackson Sotosky led an SU 1-2 in the long jump, his mark of 24 feet, 1 ¾ inches putting him fourth all time in Raider’s history. Junior Jak Kearney placed second at 23 feet, 9 ½ inches, while senior Ethan Conrad’s sixth-place effort of 23 feet, 6 inches puts him eighth in school history.
A pair of Raiders reached the Top 10 in SU history in the heptathlon. Sophomore Tyler Rossi’s second-place effort of 4,987 points puts him third on the list, while junior Noah Bankert’s seventh-place mark of 4,365 points lands him in eighth.
Other notable field efforts for the men’s team included senior Jabrie Gaymon’s runner-up finish in the triple jump, as his distance of 47 feet, 9 ¾ inches, moving him to eighth in Shippensburg history. Junior Gian Greggo placed second in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw with marks of 59 feet, 0 ¾ inches and 61 feet, 4 inches, respectively.
On the women’s side, sophomore Shaela Kruskie became the PSAC champion in the 5K, as her time of 17:16.21 was enough to win by 32 seconds and put her fifth in school history. She also placed second in the 3K at 10:06.28, eighth best all-time at SU.
Also reaching the SU Top 10 were seniors Alyssa Wert and Emily Calamia, whose times of 58.17 and 58.60 seconds in the 400 meters earned them third- and fourth-place finishes and eighth and tied-10th places on the leaderboard, respectively. Senior Madison Malcolm’s prelim time of 8.90 in the 60-meter hurdles placed her fifth in Raider’s history.
Senior Lauren Bellows had the best PSAC Championship effort of her career, finishing second in the weight throw at 50 feet, 9 ¼ inches. Sophomore Kaitlyn Calvello’s fifth-place pentathlon finish of 3,193 points was good enough for sixth in school history.
The remaining point scorers in the field for the women’s team were junior Carissa Bender, tying for third in the pole vault at 11 feet, 5 ¼ inches; junior Ashley Laukus finishing fourth in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 ½ inches; and sophomore Riyah Whigham’s fifth-place mark in the triple jump. Her effort of 38 feet, 3 ½ inches is sixth-best all-time for Shippensburg.
The last event for the indoor track-and-field season for SU is the NCAA Division II National Championships in Virginia Beach on March 13 and 14. The final list of participants were released on March 3, while the heats and flights will be revealed on March 9.
SU’s men’s team had 14 entries provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championship, with Crum Jr., Greggo and Townsend each qualifying for two events. Laukus was the lone qualifier for the women’s team.
