Shippensburg University’s Activities Programming Board (APB) hosted the Grow Your Career event alongside the Career Center as a part of their “4 U Week” on Jan. 23 in the CUB Great Hall.

The event offered students an opportunity to plant a flower in a small vase that could be decorated with markers. A large variety of seeds was offered, with everything from sunflowers to cilantro.

“I wanted something where students could take it home with them and watch it grow as they grow throughout the semester,” said Kayce Cook, APB Vice President of Experience.

Alongside the flower planting, the Career Center set up a table with both information and small items to give to students.

“I feel like many students go through college trying to figure out things on their own, not realizing there are resources, tips and guidance available for them,” said Nevin Khalil, associate director of the Career Center.

The Career Center has events planned for the semester, such as the Job and Internship Fair, as well as workshops.

The “4 U Week” consisted of three welcome back events, providing SU students with a welcoming and fun environment as they adjust to being back on campus.

Another event was Let’s Get Lucky, where students made lucky charm bingo daubers. Students learned about the Pride and Gender Equity (PAGE) Center as well as “It’s On Us,” an organization that aims to combat campus sexual assault. Let’s Get Lucky took place on Jan. 21 in the CUB Great Hall.

The last event for APB’s “4 U Week” was Stuff-A-Plush, on Jan. 23 in the CUB MPR A.

APB has several events and pop-ups planned for the rest of the semester. Check out its Instagram @shipapb for more information on their future events.
