The CUB MPR was packed on Saturday for Game Show Night presented by the Activities Programming Board (APB). Snacks and refreshments were provided, along with several door prizes for participants.
Students had the opportunity to play classic Game Shows like “Jeopardy!”, “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”, and “Name That Tune.” However, due to time constraints, organizers skipped “Family Feud” and raffled off the remaining prizes instead.
APB gave out prizes to the game show winners as well as lucky raffle winners. The largest prize handed out was an Apple Watch. There were smaller prizes like a slushie maker, an espresso machine, a highland cow stuffed animal and more.
The “Jeopardy!”-style game had several interesting categories for students to test their knowledge. Including wordle starters, sports, science, animals and anatomy questions. APB put an interesting twist on the game, letting audience members pick the category for the contestants.
In “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?”, students worked together to answer a series of general knowledge questions, and the student who answered the final question won the prize.
The final game of the night was “Name That Tune,” where students would listen to a part of a song and guessed what the name was. Some songs stumped students, including “The Other Side,” by Jason Derulo. Later, the theme was switched to movie soundtracks, and students heard music from the Avengers franchise.
The night ended with the APB raffling the remaining prizes to the crowd of mostly freshmen and sophomore students. Game Show Night is just one of the many events APB planned for this semester, so look out for posters on campus so you don’t miss APB’s next night of fun.
