4 Venues To See Your Favorite Artists

By: Matthew Smith

Whether you just like a casual night out, or you are going to see your favorite band, there are always options that will make the experience enjoyable. The venue you pick could have better drink or parking options than the next, or maybe one venue chooses one genre over another. It is all up to you, so here is some insight on various venues that treat that concert on Saturday like it is the biggest event to date.

1. The Giant Center: This is a venue that is able to cater to every audience. From Elton John and Slipknot, to Disney On Ice – the event options that are offered hit every base. Parking varies, but plan on $15-$20, handicap parking is available at the front entrance of the venue as well. The food is not expensive, expect to spend $10-$15 for a meal. Arooga’s is another option, as well as several others in the area. Alcohol is available for eight to nine dollars per beer, with mixed drinks only being served in the club sections of the venue. The Giant Center is open year round.

If you plan on attending:

550 Hersheypark Dr. Hershey, PA

717-534-3911

2. Jiffy Lube Live: An outdoor venue nestled in a beautiful hillside, Jiffy Lube provides a variety of headliners that are sure to impress. Parking varies in price, but there is a lot of it! Lawn tickets start at $10-$15, with better seating available upwards of $80. The food is overpriced, ranging from $15-$20 for a small meal of chicken tenders with fries or a small personal pizza. Alcohol is priced the highest I’ve seen, the cheapest beer is $12 and mixed drinks are $15. The stage and sound setup is always done to perfection however, which makes up for the overpriced pleasantries.

If you plan on attending:

7800 Cellar Door Dr. Bristow, Va.

703-754-6400.

3. District Nine: Hidden in inner city Philadelphia, with a new LED wall and sound upgrades, District Nine has experienced numerous small makeovers to make it the best destination in the city.. Bringing in acts such as Knife Party and Datsik, is becoming the norm. There are great drink specials, but no food – although there are many food trucks/vendors in the area. Parking for the venue is scarce, arrive early or take a cab.

If you plan on attending:

460 N. 9th St. Philadelphia, Pa.

215-769-2780.

4. Echostage: The best venue in the northeast and one of the best in the world hands down, despite being an over eighteen establishment. Experienced owners, amazing staff and the biggest acts all under the same roof means you're in for a treat. Normally there is a happy hour nine to ten every night of an event, after that mixed drinks will cost upwards of $10 and beer is always $6. The production is top of the line; large LED walls, CO2 cannons and confetti are guaranteed to give you a night you'll remember. Limited food options are available in the smoking area outside. VIP tables are available but costly, bring a large group of friends and split it. Parking is available, $20-$30.

If you plan on attending:

2135 Queens Chapel Rd. NE. Washington D.C.

202-503-2330.
