As the newly-elected president of Alpha Omicron Pi, Maddison Rogers finds herself at a new point in life with new set of responsibilities and balancing school keep her busy.

Last semester, Rogers was the public relations chair for her sorority and during that time she was in charge of making sure her chapter stood out amongst the rest. With tasks such as keeping up with Alpha Omicron Pi’s social media accounts, designing flyers and posters as well as keeping everyone up to date with upcoming events, there was never a dull moment.

This past November, Rogers was voted by her sorority as Alpha Omicron Pi Tau Lambda’s 2015-2016 president.

“This position is something that means a lot to me. I can’t wait to see what is in store for our chapter,” she said.

Rogers discussed her excitement as well as an upcoming trip she will be making in early February to her sorority’s headquarters.

“It is a great opportunity, and it’s called Leaders Institute and women from all over the country come together to learn about ways to improve their chapter,” she said.

Leaders Institute is held at the Alpha Omicron Pi headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee. This event is held the first week of February. Each year, different officers of the chapter are required to attend and this year, the president and the vice president of membership recruitment are going.

In addition to her position within her organization, Rogers is a social work major. This past month, she was involved in Project Homeless Connect. This program is designed to reach out to men, women and children in need. This program provides health care, meals, drug and alcohol referrals, haircuts, housing assistance and much more. Rogers and several other Alpha Omicron Pi members volunteered their time.

“It was a humbling experience, I am grateful to have been able to make even a small difference in someone’s life that day,” she said.

Whether she is studying for her next exam, running a chapter meeting or volunteering her time to those in need, Rogers is always finding new ways to give back and improve herself.
