William Lloyd, ROTC Cadet is commissioned Second Lieutenant

William Lloyd has his new Second Lieutenant Rank placed up his shoulders by his mother Suzanne Lloyd and his fiancée Janelle Weller.

ROTC PRESS RELEASE

On Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, Cadet William Lloyd was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army at a ceremony at the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center.

Lloyd is from Shippensburg, Pa. and graduated from Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He received a four-year scholarship from the Army during his senior year. While at Shippensburg University, he was involved in the Ranger Challenge team for four years. His degree is in social studies and secondary education.

Lloyd will be a platoon leader in the Pennsylvania National Guard in Bravo Co/ 2-112 Infantry Regiment. He will attend the Infantry Officer Basic Leader Course in February until June. After graduating, he will have an opportunity to attend Ranger School and Airborne school.

The Shippensburg University Army ROTC Raider Battalion started commissioning officers in 1981. Prior to 1981, the ROTC program at Shippensburg was under the oversight of the Blue Mountain Battalion headquartered at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.. Shippensburg has commissioned 472 officers.
