Men’s basketball undefeated after opening weekend

In the Friday night game opener against Penn State University Lehigh Valley, Shippensburg University sealed a solid 89-52 win in the 2015 Wolf’s Bus Lines Classic at Heiges Field House. Shippensburg proved to be a dynamic team with a deep bench by having three players in double figures and 13 players score overall.

Women’s Basketball Sweep Opening Weekend Games

The Shippensburg University women's basketball team came back from a slow start on Friday night, clenching a 63-53 win over Saint Michael’s University as part of the 2015 Wolf's Bus Lines Classic at Heiges Field House. Shippensburg trailed 31-28 at the half as a result from the team’s 12 turnovers.

SU hosts first home fencing meet

Henderson Gymnasium rang with the clash of steel on steel as the Shippensburg University Fencing Club hosted West Chester University and Kutztown University in the club’s first-ever home tri-meet. A total of 36 fencers in six groups duked it out across the six strips laid out on the gymnasium floor. The first part of the match consisted of round-robin preliminaries, with each group of fencers being assigned to a lane and then conducting bouts against each other, with each bout going to five points.

After taking a year to recover from a season ending shoulder injury, Evan Ramos is back wrestling for the Raiders. He is off to a hot start — recording a pin and technical fall in the first two dual meets of the season.

In the first home meet for the Raiders’ 2015-2016 wrestling campaign, Shippensburg’s young, decorated team of wrestlers took on Long Island University Post on Veterans Day.

Field hockey stunned in OT, lose in playoffs

In the first round of the PSAC Playoffs, the field hockey team dropped a heartbreaker, surrendering an overtime goal to suffer a 3-2 loss to Bloomsburg University. Shippensburg twice erased single-goal deficits, but allowed the game-winning goal in overtime to the Huskies, who were playing down one player due to a green card. The Huskies scored the opening goal of the game in the 24th minute when Laura Gerhard jumped on a rebound and snuck it into the goal to give Bloomsburg the 1-0 lead.

Men’s cross country wins title; women claim 3rd

They came, they saw and they conquered. The Shippensburg University cross country team traveled to Lock Haven University on Saturday, which served as the site of the 2015 NCAA Atlantic Region Championships and left with hardware for their efforts. The men’s team claimed the Atlantic Region Championship, while the women’s team was able to finish third. On the men’s side, all seven of the team’s runners earned All-Region Top-20 finishes and had all five scorers in the top 10. Sophomore Alex Balla came up clutch with a big Top-5 finish in the 10K, while junior Kieran Sutton finished second overall with an outstanding time of 30:31. The regional championship is the second in SU’s history and its first since 2009.

Wrestling begins season with win

The Shippensburg University wrestling team started this year’s season off strong with a 26-15 win, along with getting three pins and a technical fall, over Waynesburg University in a road dual meet on Wednesday, Nov.

Womens soccer makes playoffs

The Shippensburg University women’s soccer team defeated Lock Haven University 1-0 behind an 85th minute goal from Ashley Weaver. The goal marks Weaver's fifth of the season.

Field hockey wins finale, prepares for postseason

Field Hockey wins regular season finale The field hockey team concluded its regular-season win with a 3-0 victory over Bloomsburg University. The Raiders (13-4) captured their first goal of the game in the opening minutes when sophomore Kylie Huffman scored off a shot just inside the circle, which was her second goal of the season. SU extended its lead a minute later when freshman Brooke Zeiders converted on a penalty stroke just inside the left post.
