SU baseball takes on East Stroudsburg and Shepherd

The Shippensburg University baseball team snuck away with one win in five matchups versus Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition this past week. The team beat East Stroudsburg University once, 9-6, but dropped the remaining three games of the four-game series 6-2, 11-8 and 3-1.

Women’s tennis drops set of PSAC matches

April 6 West Chester-9 SU-0 The Shippensburg University women’s tennis team traveled to West Chester to take on PSAC adversary West Chester University on Wednesday, April 6. The Raiders were unable to achieve victory on the South Campus Courts, but they did win close games throughout the process. Two Raiders, senior Emily Cox and freshman Gabbie Binder, both won two games each at No. 2 doubles.

Remembering Robinson, 69 years later

“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” Jack “Jackie” Robinson once spoke those words and surely not even he could imagine the impact he would make in Major League Baseball, the Civil Rights Movement and the proper treatment of African-Americans during a time when it was almost nonexistent. Robinson was a stellar athlete at the University of California Los Angeles, where he became the first player in Bruins history to win four varsity letters.

The Raiders fall to Shepherd University, 6-4

The Shippensburg University baseball team rallied late, but could not overcome a six-run deficit in its matchup with non-conference opponent Shepherd University, losing 6-4. Through six innings, it appeared Shepherd had the game well in hand, as it built itself a 6-0 lead.

Women’s tennis picks up big PSAC win

The Shippensburg University tennis team won both of its matches against Cheyney University on Saturday, picking up its first conference victory in the process. After losing its first two conference matches, the Raiders were finally able to win its first PSAC matchup against the visiting Wolves.

SU softball rebounds, wins weekend series

The Shippensburg University softball team split its slate of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern division games this past week — dropping both games of a two-game series with Millersville University, but ultimately rebounding by sweeping its two-game series with East Stroudsburg University. The first game of the week came Thursday in Millersville where the Raiders fell 7-0 to the Marauders.

SU lacrosse battles, falls short in three-game homestand

The Shippensburg University women’s lacrosse team (3-5, 0-4 PSAC) opened up a three-game home stand against PSAC East rival Millersville University (6-4, 3-3 PSAC). SU had a narrow lead at halftime, 4-3, but Millersville scored five straight goals to take an 8-4 lead. SU scored four more times but could not find the equalizer, dropping the game 9-8.

Men’s track and field dominates

The Shippensburg University men’s outdoor track-and-field team spent its weekend at the 51st Colonial Relays held at the College of William & Mary. The weekend held many NCAA-provisional qualifying performances, along with a new school record being set.

Coach Jones picks up his 400th career win

On March 18, Shippensburg University baseball head coach Matt Jones recorded his 400th career victory as a collegiate baseball coach with the Raiders' 12-3 victory over West Chester University. “It meant we got our first conference win.

Raiders best Shepherd, 7-4

On a breezy day at Shippensburg University, the SU baseball team picked up a much-needed win. The Raiders struck early and often in a non-conference match-up against Shepherd University on Tuesday, March 29.
