Junior Gabriel Lewis and freshman Ke’Aune Green made history on Thursday, setting Shippensburg University records in the 100-meters and 200-meters, respectively, as part of the team performance at Uncle Dave’s Mid-Week PR Bonanza.

Lewis shattered his previous SU record in the 100-meters, running 10.03 on Thursday to eclipse his old mark by 0.28 seconds. It is a new record for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), the top time in NCAA Division II this season, and the second-best in the entire NCAA this year.

Green, who entered the meet tied for the PSAC record in the 200-meters, improved his personal best by 0.07 seconds, winning with a time of 20.89 seconds to secure the PSAC record and SU record for himself.

Other notable runners for the men’s team were junior Ni’male Greenwood, placing sixth in school history in the 100-meters at 10.52 seconds, and junior Isaiah Brightman, sneaking into the Shippensburg top 10 in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.66 seconds.

Junior Jak Kearney placed first in the long jump, setting a new personal best at 24 feet, 0 ¾ inches, placing him sixth in the school record book for the event. Freshman Jackson Sotosky finished close behind at 23 feet, 10 ¼ inches, putting him eighth all-time at SU.

Freshman Gilberto Raphael Ramos put up a mark of 15 feet, 5 inches in the pole vault, placing him 10th all-time at SU in the event. Sophomore Jackson Hersh and junior Gian Greggo placed first in the javelin and shot put, respectively.

For the women’s team, freshman Izzy Slezak and senior Alyssa Wert each had a pair of runs, putting them in the top five in Raider history for their respective events.

Slezak won both the 100-meters and 200-meters, moving to third place at SU with a time of 12.01 seconds in the former and a time of 24.54 seconds in the latter, being enough for second place all-time at Shippensburg.

Wert finished close behind Slezak in the 200-meters, with her time of 24.73 seconds moving her into fourth all-time at SU. She also placed runner-up in the 400-meters at 56.13 seconds, the fifth best in school history.

Other performances that entered the SU record book included senior Emily Calamia, moving to sixth all-time in the 200-meters at 24.87 seconds, and senior Madison Malcolm, entering the top 10 in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.67 seconds.

Junior Ashley Laukus equaled her personal best in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches, keeping her seventh in SU history. For the throwers, senior Lauren Bellows won the hammer throw with a season best of 159 feet, 11 inches, while sophomore Kyra Love set a new personal best in the shot put, placing second at 40 feet, 8 ¼ inches.

SU track and field will finish its regular season at home this weekend, competing in the Paul Kaiser Classic at Seth Grove Stadium. Friday’s action starts at 12:30 p.m. and consists of the hammer throw and 10K, with the rest of the events taking place Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
