The Shippensburg University tennis team resumed its competition schedule last Saturday, facing York on the road with a dominant 7-0 win at the Myers Tennis Complex.

Doubles play brought a competitive start to the match. On Court 1, graduate Yasmin De Meyer and senior Corinne Markovich fell 6–2 to York’s Bri Serruto and Maddi Haggerty.

On Court 2, sophomore Jade Miller and junior Rachel Gallagher battled a tiebreaker and won 7-6 (7-3) against Bonnie Thomas and Kennedy Conte. The win gave SU its first point of the afternoon, considering that on Court 3, the game was won by forfeit.

In singles play, Shippensburg recorded five victories and six total points, since game No. 6 was won by forfeit as well.

Markovich battled at No.1 singles against Serruto. The match started very tight, where Markovich managed to win the first set in tiebreak 7-6 (7-3), and dominated the second set 6-2.

De Meyer had a strong performance at No. 2 singles against Haggerty, posting a clean 6-0 first set and securing the match with a 7-5 second set.

The Raiders earned their fourth point of the day thanks to Miller’s comeback at No. 3, the longest match of the day. After a tough 1-6 first set against Thomas, Miller responded with a decisive 6-1 second set and 6-0 third set.

At No. 4 singles, Gallagher defeated Conte 6-4, 6-2, and junior Brinley Orris followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Maaria Khan at No. 5 singles.

After an intense afternoon, SU dominated across all courts, and the match ended 7-0. It is the second time this 2025-2026 season that the Raiders recorded such a commanding result.

The Raiders are back on Friday at noon at Robb Sports Complex, where they will host Juniata. They will then travel to Bowie State on Saturday, where they will face Elizabeth City State at 1 p.m. and the host Bulldogs at 4 p.m.
