Shippensburg University’s baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Lincoln University over the weekend at Fairchild Field, winning 21-3 and 4-1 on Friday before adding 15-1 and 5-2 victories on Saturday.

The Raiders scored 45 runs on 50 hits across the four-game series and improved to 10-4 overall.

Shippensburg opened the weekend with a 21-3 rout, scoring in each of the first six innings and plating seven runs in both the fourth and fifth. Freshman Caden Lloyd went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs, including an inside-the-park home run, while freshman Lucas Ream added a two-run triple and redshirt junior Tony Falvo hit a three-run home run. Junior Conner Barto earned the win after striking out eight over five innings.

Game 2 was closer, but the Raiders still finished the Friday sweep with a 4-1 win in a game shortened to six innings because of darkness.

Junior Mason Morris put Shippensburg ahead with a solo home run in the third inning. After Lincoln tied the game in the fifth, the Raiders answered immediately with three runs in the bottom half behind RBI hits from sophomore Evan Shoffler, redshirt sophomore Brady Harbach and senior AJ Wenrich. Redshirt sophomore Brady Kain allowed one run over five innings, and senior Jack Robinson worked a scoreless sixth to earn the save.

In Game 3, the Raiders opened on Saturday with another one-sided win, beating Lincoln 15-1. SU scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second and eight in the fifth. Wenrich led the offense in the opener, finishing 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, a triple and seven RBIs, while Lloyd again provided power in the middle of the lineup. Redshirt sophomore Kaleb Maksimik went five innings, allowing one run on three hits without a walk and striking out five.

In the finale, Lincoln took its only lead of the weekend at 1-0 through three innings, but Shippensburg answered with a five-run fourth and went on to win 5-2. Sophomore Thomas Cano-Piszel tied the game with an RBI infield single; sophomore Will Oates doubled home the go-ahead run; Falvo added an RBI single and another run scored on a wild pitch; and junior Ty Sherman capped the inning with an RBI single. Freshman Jonah Mayer earned the win, and Robinson picked up his fourth save in the seventh.

Wenrich reached base in 12 of 14 plate appearances during the series and went 8-for-10 with a home run, two doubles, two triples, nine RBIs and seven runs scored. Lloyd finished 5-for-11 with three home runs and eight RBIs in three games played. Robinson also helped anchor the pitching staff, and Lincoln led only once all weekend before the Raiders answered in the series finale.

With the sweep, Shippensburg improved to 10-4 overall and extended its winning streak to four games. The Raiders scored 45 runs while allowing just seven in the four-game set.

Shippensburg returns next weekend in a home-and-home series against Lock Haven. The Raiders are scheduled to host the Bald Eagles for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 14, at Fairchild Field before traveling to Lock Haven for another doubleheader on Sunday, March 15.
