The Shippensburg University wrestling team picked up its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual-meet win of the season during a 2-1-day on Sunday at the East Stroudsburg Quad Meet at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Shippensburg (5-10, 1-4 PSAC) started the day with a 21-19 win over the host Warriors. They then split a pair of non-league duals, falling to NYU, 35-14, before concluding the day with a 20-18 win over New Jersey City.

The Raiders won six matches, five by decision, to pull off the close victory over ESU. SU got off to a good start at the lighter weights, netting three consecutive decisions from freshman Kyle von Schmidt at 133, redshirt freshman Cole Coffin at 141 and redshirt junior Mike Trainor at 149.

Graduate Nick Delp picked up vital bonus points with a pin of ESU's Anthony Lawrence at 165. Delp would go on to add two more wins during the meet via major decision. He is currently ranked ninth in the nation at 165 pounds and has a perfect 15-0 record on the season.

Senior Kyler Everly and junior Diesel Koser won close decisions at 174 and 197, respectively, to seal the dual meet win.

It was all or nothing for both teams in the NYU match, as the two squads’ teams traded bonus points in all ten bouts. Trainor and Koser earned tech falls for SU.

Coffin, senior Anthony Lavish, Delp, Everly and senior Cole Lang helped the Raiders get past NJCU in the finale. Lavish, Delp, Everly and Lang earned bonus points, including a tech fall from Everly at 174.

Coffin, Trainor, Everly and Koser all finished the day with a pair of wins.

Shippensburg next hosts Felician in a non-league dual Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Heiges Field House.
