With music blasting and the smell of buttered popcorn wafting in the air, Shippensburg University Students attended the Activities Programming Board’s (APB) Kick Off Carnival in the CUB Amphitheatre.
Event attendees had the opportunity to play carnival games including ring toss, basketball, bumper cars and knock-down games. Tickets won in the games could be redeemed at the prize table for trinkets, toys and plushies.
In addition to the smaller prizes, attendees could also spend their hard-earned tickets on larger prizes by entering them in a raffle. One of the prizes that APB offered was a podcast streamer bundle that included a pair of Maonocaster microphones and a sound pad.
“Things like that show that there is a community here at Shippensburg University,” APB member Ashley Hepler said. “APB is one of the things that brings that community together.”
Outside this kick-off, APB hosted other events at the university. Game Show Night was held from 9-11 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the CUB MPR, and the event included five game shows with $1,000 worth of prizes.
APB’s Smoothie and Groovies event will be held on Sept. 12 from 6-8 p.m. in the CUB Amphitheatre. Activities at the event will include clay earring and bracelet making, paint kits, string crafts and more.
Their most popular event, bingo nights, will be held throughout the semester. APB will also be participating in food sales and quieter events in the future such as their whoopie-pie pop-up.
