The campus of Shippensburg University experienced a partial power outage on the evening of January 20.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., power went out in Reisner Dining Hall, Seavers Hall, Mowrey Hall and the Ceddia Union Building. SU News sent an email at 5:39 p.m. saying “We are aware of a power outage on campus; crews are working to address the issue.”

Reisner Dining Hall remained open and served what hot food remained at its various stations when the power went down. The beverage fountain was unavailable besides water, and staff kept fridges and freezers sealed to preserve food, according to university officials in Reisner at the time.

Power returned to Seavers Hall around 6:50 p.m., and SU News sent another email at 7:51 p.m. saying power had been restored across campus.

As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, a direct cause of the outage is unknown and the university is still working with Pennelec, according to SU Director of Communications and Marketing Megan Silverstrim.
