An upbeat shift from typical soft ballads, “Forget Me” is an emotional song with a welcoming and bright sound. Artist Lewis Capaldi is a musician of the pop, blue-eyed, soul genre which is an informal and soulful type of music that resembles the blues. Released on Sept. 9, 2022, is the first new music by Capaldi in nearly three years.

The single release, “Forget Me,” is a soulful song with a warm tone and upbeat instrumental accompaniment that puts a new twist on the same topic: heartbreak.

In this new song, Capaldi reminisces on a previous love and the pain and heartbreak of the separation. “Oh, I hate to know I made you cry/ But I love to know I cross your mind.”

With this part of the chorus, Capaldi is demonstrating vulnerability and reflection in the relationship and their split. It is a line that is almost pining for how things used to be, whereas, “Even after all it’d still wreck me/ To find out you’d know how to forget me,” is showing the sadness and hurt of being forgotten and pushed to the background. It is a line that represents the attempt to forget and move on and how those hurts.

Lewis Capaldi is an artist wearing his heart on his sleeve by showing the vulnerability of love and heartbreak.

“Forget Me” by Lewis Capaldi is available on Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora and Apple music.
