October is here and it is time to grab a blanket and a cup of pumpkin spice-flavored coffee and escape in a perfect book. What better way to bring in Halloween cheer than by reading the perfect fantasy novel.

Check out these five witchy, paranormal and fantasy young adult stories to add to your reading list and to celebrate spooky vibes.

“A Song of Wraiths and Ruin,” by Roseanne A. Brown

Katina is dealing with the assignation of her mother, the Sultana and must go on a quest to find ancient resurrection magic. Malik and Katina seek out to destroy one another in order to get what they love the most.

“Serpent & Dove,” by Shelby Mahurin

Louise must hide her magic powers in order to survive but everything changes when she stumbles into Reid. The two must marry in order to save Reid’s reputation at the Church and Louise's life. The two embark on a dangerous journey to overthrow the monarchy and reclaim the witches’ land.

“Crave,” by Tracy Wolff

Fans of “Twilight” and “The Vampire Diaries” will not be disappointed in the new bloodsucking series. Crave follows Grace, the new girl at Katmere Academy, who is instantly smitten by the mysterious Jaxon Vega. She soon finds out that everything is not as it seems as witches, shapeshifters and vampires make up the student body at the academy. Jaxon Vega, a vampire becomes obsessed with Grace in order to protect her from the danger that lurks in the shadows.

“Children of Blood and Bone,” by Tomi Adeyemi

Inspired by Harry Potter and “Avatar the Last Airbender,” Adeyemi’s debut novel follows heroine Zelie Adebola as she tries to restore magic to the Kingdom of Orisha with the help of a rogue princess. The novel also draws from West African mythology and Yoruba culture and language. It has also gained Adeyemi a six-figure movie deal with Fox 2000.

“Wicked Fox,” by Kat Cho

Set in modern day Seoul, Miyoung Gu is a gumiho, a legendary nine-tailed fox spirit that devours the souls of evil men. One day she loses her powers after rescuing fellow classmate Jihoon from a goblin. Without their gumiho soul she will die.
