Two Shippensburg University students who traveled to Europe during spring break tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), according to university officials.

The students returned to America with the coronavirus, President Laurie Carter said in an email to students Wednesday afternoon. They are currently quarantined out of state and are “in good spirits,” according to Carter.

Neither of the students returned to Pennsylvania, and the community is not at risk from them. The students were last on campus March 3 and 4, according to Carter.

Additionally, Carter encouraged students who know the students’ identities to respect their anonymity and privacy so they can focus on recovering.

Carter also announced the university will post new confirmed cases of the coronavirus online at ship.edu/coronavirus/confirmed-cases/.

Students or university employees who have tested positive for the coronavirus are asked to notify the university by emailing covid19@ship.edu or by calling (717) 477-1161.

"I hope you will follow the guidance of our public health leaders to stay calm, stay well and stay home," Carter said.
