Macaroni and cheese is a comfort food that almost everyone can relate to. The most lovable thing about good macaroni and cheese are the delightful childhood memories which flood into your mind upon the first cheesy bite.

Macaroni and cheese is also a versatile dish which allows you to play around with different seasonings, proteins and cheeses. This recipe produces a simple but tasty baked macaroni and cheese which you can build into your own signature dish by adding your own personal flair of flavors.

What you need:

Maddie Walsh

Large pot

Small pot

Baking dish

3/4 1 lb box of macaroni pasta

4 tbsp unsalted butter

3 cups milk

3 cups shredded cheese

1/3 cup flour

1/2 tbsp salt

Breadcrumbs

What you do:

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Fill the large pot with water and bring it to a boil before adding macaroni and a splash of olive oil. Boil for about eight minutes before straining and setting aside in the baking dish.

Place the small pot onto the burner and turn to medium low heat. Melt the butter in the pot and then whisk in the flour. Add 1 cup of milk and whisk out any lumps of flour before adding remaining milk. Mix in salt and any desired seasonings. Keep on heat for eight minutes, stir or whisk the sauce regularly.
