New fall semester, new Shippensburg University men’s soccer season.

The Raiders will be looking to improve on their 6-12 record from last season in head coach Jeremy Spering’s 10th season in charge of the squad.

Only two Raiders will be graduating this year: Jan Striewe and Jamie Blair. There are nine juniors on the squad, so there will be a big changeup after next year. Twelve new players joined the ranks for this season, bringing an unknown factor to the team.

It will be interesting to see how the new Raiders will be incorporated into the game plans and how they will gel with the returning team members.

SU will start the season with three home games before its first away game. The schedule is reversed this season, with the Raiders having more games at home than away. This gives fellow Raiders the opportunity to come out and support the team more often and to get a look at the team’s potential future stars. The season begins Thursday at home against Goldey-Beacom College at 6:30 p.m.
