Banjo Fun Day will return to The Thought Lot for a second year of banjo festivities on Dec. 3 and 4. The two-day event is hosted by The Bedford Banjo Shop and is free to the public.

Regardless of banjo playing ability, there will be entertainment and fun for all. The event provides attendees with opportunities to not only listen to banjo music being played, but to also engage in learning, playing and meeting new people who share a common love for the banjo.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., accomplished banjo musicians Erin Inglish, Kevin Neidig and Mary Z. Cox will hold group banjo classes and privately instructional sessions to kick Banjo Fun Day off. These lessons range from banjo basics to being taught more advanced skills and playing techniques.

Lessons can be scheduled by calling the partial owner of The Bedford Banjo Shop, Mike Amato, at 717-440-2320. However, there are limited spots available for Saturday’s banjo lessons.

The first day of Banjo Fun Day’s weekend event will conclude with a banjo-only instrument concert featuring the performance of instructors Inglish, Cox and Byrne Klay. The concert is free to the public with doors opening at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 4 there will be a day of free banjo group lessons with Klay, Cox and Inglish, which will begin at noon and end at 5 p.m. All playing abilities are welcome, and five string banjos will be available for participants to use if they do not own their own banjo.

Aside from multiple lessons and a free concert, there will also be a variety of unannounced, local banjo-related booths and other exciting activities at Banjo Fun Day for participants to enjoy.
