Following the success of “A Local View - Paintings from the late Paul Buhan,” the Shippensburg Arts Programming and Education invites the community to attend the Nov. 4 opening reception of “Give the Gift of Art,” SHAPE’s final exhibit of the year.

Attendance is free and open to the public. Guests can expect light refreshments and a comfortable atmosphere. The SHAPE gallery is located on 19 East King St., in Shippensburg.

SHAPE will open its doors to offer a sneak peek at the exhibit at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 2, but no purchases can be made until the opening reception. The exhibit will remain open until Friday, Dec 16.

The purpose of this exhibit is to encourage the community to give the gift of art this holiday season. Guests will have the ability to take home any artwork as soon as the purchase is made rather than waiting until the exhibit ends.

There will be a back stock of artwork to prevent empty walls as artwork is taken down for purchase.

Bridget Palmer-Rosetta, SHAPE’s gallery director, is looking forward to lending wall space to a variety of artists across different mediums.

“We are happy that many artists have contacted us about participating,” Palmer-Rosetta said. “Our goal with this exhibit is to provide the community with a place where they can purchase beautiful pieces of artwork to give as gifts.”

Guests can expect to find scarves handmade and gathered by Linda Singly of Bearlin Acres Farms. In addition, there are handcrafted journals and scarves by Pamela Soaring Raven and photography by Chelsea Blaine that not only captures reality, but enhances its charm.
