Memories that burn like fire

She smothered the blazing flames

Left aglow by long-gone drifters,

With the raindrops

From her cloudy eyes

The incandescence appeared much dimmer—

Die down

Die down she cried,

Kiss the earth with your final ember,

Leave me dark, forgotten and all alone

Like he did to me last December.
