The Shippensburg University tennis team won both of its matches against Cheyney University on Saturday, picking up its first conference victory in the process.

After losing its first two conference matches, the Raiders were finally able to win its first PSAC matchup against the visiting Wolves. Of the two matches, only one counted as a conference match, with the other being played as a non-conference match-up.

It was the Raiders' most impressive performance of the season, winning both matches 5-0. The team swept the board, winning every singles and doubles matchup of the afternoon. Four of the victories were the result of forfeits.

Freshmen Kaylin Gallagher had a standout day, taking part in multiple victories. Gallagher started by beating Cheyney’s Courtney Stewart 6-0 in the first match. She later teamed up with fellow freshman Victoria Galanti to defeat Akia Harris and Jasmine Richardson 8-0 in the second match.

The Raiders move to 3-7 on the season and 1-2 in the conference with three matches to go. The team will travel to West Chester on Wednesday, April 6, for another PSAC matchup.
