SNL comedian and former Nickelodeon star, Kenan Thompson hit the stage in the Ceddia Union Building on Thursday, April 16.

Immediately getting the crowd to laugh, Thompson started his act with a story detailing the start to his career . He explained how he got into “The Mighty Ducks” and what his experiences were like, all while keeping the crowd entertained.

He then went into his time with Nickelodeon and explained the different shows he worked on there. At the mention of “Good Burger,” the crowd let out screams and shouts, with Thompson’s responding, “So you’re familiar?”

He explained how he got involved in Saturday Night Live (SNL). Thompson said that after actors like Tracy Morgan left, there was room on SNL for his “blackness,” and he went to audition. Thompson revealed that he was terrified to do the stand-up comedy that was required for the audition. Even though Thompson thought he did not do well, they still hired him.

“I’m not in a hurry to leave it [SNL], if you were wondering,” Thompson said as he finished up explaining his SNL experience. He then turned the night over to the audience, allowing them to ask him whatever questions came to mind.

These questions varied from who were his favorite actors to work with on SNL to if he could do the Fat Albert “punch line.” Thompson answered each question as best as he could, making the crowd laugh more with each answer.

Thompson kept the crowd on its toes, smiles on their faces and laughter in their hearts.
