Shippensburg University first year player Ally Mooney provided shut down goal tending for the Lady Raiders this week, helping SU pick up back-to-back wins.
Shippensburg took on No. 1-ranked Millersville, previously unbeaten, and beat them 2-1 last Tuesday. The Marauders out-shot SU 20-8 with a 17-7 advantage in penalty corners, but Mooney stepped up and picked up a career-high 11 saves in the victory.
Mooney picked up five more saves on Saturday in a tough matchup against Mansfield. SU would win that one 2-1 as well.
With 11 starts on the season, Mooney has allowed more than a single goal only once. She has two solo shutouts and contributed to three more, leading a Raiders’ goal tending squad to just seven goals allowed on the season. Mooney is 5-0 in away contests, with a 9-2 record overall.
