Looking for a high-intensity action film to add some excitement to a boring evening? If so, “Homefront” is the movie for you.

“Homefront” stars Jason Statham of Crank, Death Race, and The Expendables. In “Homefront”, Statham plays as a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent, Phil Broker.

The movie starts off with Agent Broker going undercover as a member of a biker gang, led by Danny T (Chuck Zito). At a local bar, Agent Broker and the gang try to make a deal to sell meth made from their lab. Agent Broker tips off the DEA about Danny T’s meeting at the bar and the deal is busted when DEA agents sweep the bar. During this encounter, Broker is revealed to be a DEA agent, which leads to a shoot out between Broker, Danny T and Jojo (Danny T’s son). Broker arrests Danny T and shoots Jojo in the leg. Unfortunately, Jojo makes a gesture that is believed to be a threat and the DEA agents fatally shoot Jojo. As a result, Broker quits the job as an undercover DEA agent.

Two years later, Broker moves to a small town where his deceased wife passed away. He is joined by his daughter, Maddy, who being bullied at school by Teddy Klum. One particular school day, Teddy is harassing Maddy and she responds by breaking his nose. This leads to Broker and Teddy’s parents being called. Teddy’s parents, Jimmy and Cassie Klum, are pretty furious about their son being hurt and Jimmy attacks Broker. This leads to a fight that Broker wins, but the sheriff, played by Clancy Brown, breaks up the fight and warns Broker about the the Klums.

Cassie Klum has a brother by the name of Gator Bodine, played by James Franco, who is a drug dealer with his hands in a lot of the illegal operations around town. A culminating conflict occurs when tensions between Broker, Maddy and the Klums leads to Maddy being kidnapped.

For a movie that I have not heard much about, I really enjoyed watching this action-packed film. I have always enjoyed movies with Jason Statham, because he does a really great job as an action hero.

I give this movie a 7 out of 10 rating. “Homefront” is a fairly new addition to the instant streaming library on Netflix, as well, so I recommend that you add it to your queue before newer movies are added to the Netflix streaming library.
