On Feb. 20 to Feb. 23, the Shippensburg University swim team traveled to York to swim in its biggest meet of the regular season: PSAC championships. Inside the Graham Aquatic Center school records were broken and personal records were shattered.

Rikki Sargent broke three school records while at the PSAC championships. Sargent broke her previously set records in the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes as well as the 400-yard individual medley record by 4.6 seconds finishing with a 4:32.51.

Carolyn Meier broke the long-standing 200-yard freestyle record set by Erin Goodhart in 2004. Meier touched the wall in 1:51.76.

Jessica Trgovic broke a minute in her 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 59.96 while Colleen Stiles finished in 59.98.

Stiles also managed to secure an “A” finals spot with her 200-yard backstroke time of 2:09.35.

Tara Yohe led the Raiders in the 1,000-yard freestyle posting a collegiate best in the event.

Julie Brown posted great swims for the Raiders in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. Brown has also since been announced as the lone national qualifier and will compete at NCAA DII Championships.

Other great swims included personal records (PRs) by Becca Burke in the 200-yard breaststroke, Kaytee Garcia in the 500-yard freestyle, and Devon Perugini who secured PRs in both the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle. Carolyn Meier also swam in the 200-yard individual medley to secure points for the Raiders.

Jake Dunnigan notched impressive times this weekend. Dunnigan swam a personal best in the 200 individual medley.

Tyler Robertson posted a best time in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:45.39.

Joey Borgioni, Stefan Szilagyi and Chandler Johnson all secured great swims for the Raiders in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Raiders performed exceptionally well in this year’s PSAC Championship event. They look forward to a comfortable off-season and will soon begin preparing for the 2014-15 season.
