Students meet employers at Career Day

Students interested in building connections and relationships with potential future employers attended Shippensburg University’s 2013 Career Day at the ShipRec on Monday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.

Because of the diverse array of participating corporations, students were able to gain valuable knowledge concerning their future careers no matter what their major was.

Attendees were able to visit booths set up by the various companies such as Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, Highmark Health Services, IBM, etc.

The event was a chance for students to make a strong first impression with employers. Most people that attended the event dressed in business attire and brought their resumes to impress the representatives that they met.

Representatives of participating businesses also presented information to students concerning full-time, part-time, internship, and volunteer positions available during and after college. Students were also able to discuss with the representatives the type of work that goes into succeeding in the business.

Although not the purpose of the event, students were able to receive free prizes when visiting booths as a bonus. The prizes – bags, pens, key chains, etc. – were specific to the company being represented at the booth.
