UPDATE: An additional SU Alert was sent out for clarification at 6:15 p.m. The robbery did not occur near campus, as the Public Opinion reported that the original crime took place in Guilford Township.

The suspects are still at large.

Some excitement came through Shippensburg Monday evening as a police chase that Shippensburg University police joined Pennsylvania State Troopers on ended at approximately 6 p.m.

Students received an initial SU Alert at approximately 5:40 p.m. warning them to stay safe. The alert read, “State and University Police in pursuit of black minivan used in armed robbery near campus. Suspects armed and dangers. Take precautions.”

About 20 minutes later the pursuit of the minivan ended. However, the suspects remain at large.

According to the Public Opinion, the suspects traveled through Cumberland and Franklin Counties about one hour ago. The police were in pursuit on Interstate North, according to the Public Opinion.

One of the suspects in pursuit is wearing a white stocking over his face with a mustache drawn on it. The suspect was also wearing glasses when he allegedly committed the crime in Guilford Township, according to the Public Opinion.

Anybody who sees suspicious activity should call 911 immediately. Anybody on campus should take the appropriate precautions.
