The Shippensburg University women’s basketball team lost to the Kutztown University Golden Bears Saturday afternoon 69–62.

KU started strong, beginning with a 10–4 lead in the opening minutes. However, SU gained ground. With 11 minutes remaining, SU only trailed by one, making the score 10–9. An offensive lead by Stephanie Knauer gave SU a 28–24 lead at halftime.

In the second half, KU made a strong comeback, at one point holding a 65–46 lead thanks to a 20–10 run. With less than five minutes remaining, SU made one last attempt to regain its lead.

With eight seconds left on the clock, SU had cut Kutztown’s lead to only eight points. However, SU could not finish and dropped the game 69–62.

Knauer had the best performance of the day for the Raiders with 24 points and 18 rebounds getting a double-double.

The Raiders will have to wait to improve their record next game as they are now 6-2 with a 2–1 record in the PSAC division. KU is now .500 with a record of 3–3 and 2–1 in PSAC play.
